Many, many thanks to all you hounds who contributed ideas for "everyday places" a few weeks back. Although I will not be contributing any new information, I just wanted to contribute yet another rave review for Shangri-La in Belmont. Out of this humble storefront comes the freshest, most wonderful chinese food I have had in years. The boneless tea smoked duck was a revelation. The most intense smokey flavor I have ever encountered, despite a long love of southern BBQ. Hand made pancakes that stayed pliable a day later and the huge serving of duck for 12 bucks provided dinner, breakfast yesterday and lunch later today. MY wife had chicken with asparagus that was fresh, perfectly cooked and tasty. Dumplings and sesame noodles were perfect. It will be hard to keep me away from this place.

Fresh pond seafood was open yesterday on the way home from the circus. The fish was beautiful (although expensive). A thick yellowfin tuna steak, marinated in toasted sesame oil and nam pla, then briefly seared on a hot grill was superb. The prepared stuffed clams were only fair (high bread to clam ratio and somewhat mushy texture). The tuna was sufficiently fresh and high quality to deserve the $15/lb price.
