Review of Pampano

Wow...that's about all I can say.

Went to Pampano on East 49th St (and 3rd) for dinner last night. They pitch their food as "modern mexican".

I will cut to the chase:

Bar area: very intimate, great drinks but a bit small for the price. The mango margarita was great.

Seating: I live a few blocks from there and never noticed the terrace area overlooking 49th st. It helped that the weather was great, but the outdoor space is excellent. The indoor space was also very nice, with a tropical feel.

Service: Very attentive. They really catered to our every whim.

Food: Hot damn...some of the best seafood that I have had in ages.

Shrimp ceviche appetizer was outstanding, with just the right amount of spice to counter the sweetness of the marinade.

Scallop and Shrimp appetizer was also exceptional. If I were in a more secluded corner, I probably would have picked up the serving vessel and licked it clean

We had the whole baby snapper (lightly fried) and the seared sea bass. Very fresh fish, exceptionally prepared.

It was not inexpensive, but certainly worth it. It was so good, in fact, that I almost did not put up a post to try to keep the secret to myself!!

Bon apetit!
