I am kicking myself for not going to Sanford, oh well. The ambience is wonderful at Coast, elegant, modern room with spectacular view of the lake and the Art Museum. The appetizers were ok...tasting of three soups, clam chowder, salmon chowder, and sweet&sour. Didn't have the latter, the clam chowder was watery, the salmon was good. My party of four also shared tempura crawfish&calamari, and eggplant&zucchini, both were well done fried foods. The trouble started when the entrees were brought less than TEN MINUTES after the appetizers!! Some pimple faced kitchen underling brought out our tray of entrees and sat them by us, and frantically looked around for our server-we were still eating the appetizers, so the plates were still there! A couple minutes later, the waitress came out and was handing us entrees while clearing plates...ridiculously bad timing for a place so expensive, I don't expect this in Chilis!! The entrees were all terrible, like they were cooked by people who don't know how to cook!
I had chili rubbed bone-in ribeye with cheese enchiladas-the steak was stringy and obviously low grade, swimming in HOT chili oil, way too hot! I make better steak at home easily! The cheese enchiladas were obviously microwaved, and not enough at that, they were cold with cheese melted and were extremely rubbery. My father in law had cedar planked walleye-overcooked and flavorless, topped with bacon bits. My wife had lobster cobb salad-again, overcooked lobster. My mother in law had filet mignon with some kind of tomato-onion confit mess that didn't taste right. The quality of her steak was better than mine, though. We were too full for dessert as we were rushed through our starters and hadn't had time to digest. If I weren't with my wife and in-laws, I'd have cussed out as many employees at that awful restaurant as possible!
Do NOT go to Coast, it is amateurish and just plain bad food!
