My husband and I are road tripping for nine days at the end of September(mostly down Highway 101)and are absolutely desperate for some decent restaurant reccomendations. Locals, please note that it's our first time in the Pacific Northwest, so we'd really rather spend it having great coffee and seafood than, say, Korean barbeque--however delicious it might be.
Our itinerary is one night in Seattle, two nights in the San Juan Islands, one night in the Olympic Peninsula. Then, we drive down the coast of Oregon (Cannon Beach, Newport, and a bit east of Gold Beach to Grants Pass) ending in Eureka, California.
Here's what has been suggested to me so far:
Seattle: Etta's Seafood
San Juan Islands: Hungry Clam, Doty's Bakery, Herb's Tavern, and the Orcas Wine Co.
Olympic Peninsula: The Three Crabs (in Dungeness)
Cannon Beach: ???
Grants Pass: ???
Eureka/Arcata: The Carter House
Am I making a big mistake with Etta's? Is there anywhere along the coast (at or in-between our stops) that shouldn't be missed? I heard some vague talk about Gearhart, where James Beard was born...
Any critiques and/or suggestions would be SO greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
