Okay, fellow Hounds, I am flummoxed. I have a "milestone" b-day fast approaching, and I wanted to host friends at a dinner in a Manhattan restaurant. Here are the guidelines: at MOST $50 pp (including tax and tip, but not booze; I want a place that'll allow me to do a cash bar, to save me $$); any cuisine pretty much, except Chinese or Japanese (but I'm sure I've priced myself out of the latter anyway!); anywhere in Manhattan at all.
The date is Sat 8 May, I know, I know, very close. I was thinking perhaps an Indian or Thai place would be good, as they would probably be closer to my price range. I'm having about 15-20 people. Random places that popped to mind (some of which I haven't been to, but have wanted to try) include: Mamlouk, Jezebel, Da Andrea, Snack Taverna, Beyoglu, Jane. With the relatively small crowd I'm having, I don't know if I'd necessarily need a private room, but maybe it'd be nice?? I didn't plan on a band or any particular special entertainment.
I hope someone can help point me in a direction.
