Hi NOLA Chowhounds - A fear of missing an incredible meal during my short stay in your fine city has left my decision-making process somewhat debilitated. Here is my plan after much research. Please critique it and help with my dilemmas. (If it matters, I'm equally enthralled with both seafood and game. I'm a budding wino, so a great wine list is a plus but by no means required. I just want soul-pleasing, heart-breaking, tear-inducing food.) Thank you so much for your help.
Thursday - Lunch: Take cab from airport directly to Central Grocery to have a muffaletta before it closes. Dinner at either Upperline, Clancy's, or Gautreaus. I can't decide - I've looked at the menus and everything sounds yummy.
Friday - I'm leaning toward Gabrielle's for Friday lunch. Should I go here instead of Galatoires? While the atmosphere and history of Galatoires sound fantastic, I get a sense that NOLA chowhounders recommend this place more for the overall authentic (for lack of a better term) feel of the place rather than the food. Am I wrong? Dinner at Brigsten's for sure.
Saturday - Lunch at either Bayona or Herbsaint. Last meal in NO for a while before I can come back. I know they are both Susan Spicer restaurants - but is one better right now? There is no dinner on Saturday - I woefully leave for the airport to go to a wedding in Florida which will undoubtedly have inferior food.
Thank you so much for your input. If you are ever in LA, be sure to write and I'll help you navigate the food scene there!
