Thanks to RR for letting me know Moonstruck moved! We just returned from a fun weekend in The Spring Lake to Ocean Grove area. (The B&B we stayed at in Ocean Grove was a bit run down but we survived.). Anyway, I've been to Sisters in Spring Lake and Whispers looked even pricer than Moonstruck and we were anxious to see the new Moonstruck so we went. First I checked their web site which gave new address and talked about opening in May. Mentioned they were still BYOB.
Well, we know to get there early and they open at 5pm. So we got there at 5:45. We were told a 45 minute wait and were seated in 40. Noted that they were serving booze at their TWO bars. I asked and yes, by moving less than a quarter mile into Asbury they got a liquour license!
By 6:15 waits were 1 1/2 hours for parties of 2 and 2 hours for parties of four. (And this is NOT the Cheesecake Factory!<g).
Well, the food was great. Service was superb and friendly. The portions as always are HUGE (One of us had the half chicken and we had enough left for sandwich picnic the next day!). As for wine. The prices were a big surprise. The house wine (Woodbrisge) got you nearly 4 large glasses (a half carafe) at $8.00! And there were 2-3 quality Merlots (Calif and French) at $18.00 bottle!
Parking is easy and it's safe. I'd go back again in a minute but I warn others, go by 6pm or plan to sit in the crowded bar for 2 hours!
Oh yes, you canm't leave your name and go away. Two reasons: 1) unlike their former Ocean Grove location (now a cutsey gift shop) you have no place to walk to. and 2) they give you a flashing beeper (just like The Cheesecake Factory!) which does not operate outside the building.
And for lunch we always go to Hoffman's Homemade Ice Cream in Spring Lake on Rt 71 after a slice of great pizza at Spring Lake Pizza.
Glad to share. We''ll be back in the spring!
Steve in Philly!
