REPORT-Homemade (or at least good) Tamales?

Nancy | Sep 9, 2002 12:09 PM

I finally made it to El Chapparal in Arlington on Sunday and tasted the homemade tamales sold in a warming dish by the checkout counter (I also bought some frozen ones - haven't tried them yet). It was quite good but different than I expected because it was sweet, not savory, and contained no meat. Corn throughout, good consistency and obviously homemade. Can't remember how much it was. Perhaps I should have asked for a meat tamale? I couldn't tell if I had choices so I just asked for one tamale.

Also bought tuna stuffed olives by Goya - not as good as the ones I got in Spain but they'll suffice. Lots of other cool stuff in the aisles. Will definitely go back. Thanks again for the tip!
