For what it is worth here is some feed back on the places went to.
Got in late on thanksgiving because of plan delayed for two hours, Broussards nice enough to accommodate. In all fairness it was late and the food and staff were done. The roast beef looked nice but no flavor and all of the food was cold, saved by a decent bottle of cab. By the way I had reservation at Bistro at Maison de Ville three weeks in advance, went to confirm before we left and had no record of it and was suppose to call me back and never did.
Went to Joey k missed Clancy's lunch hours, great staff, the owner was nice good down home food would go back.
Emeril's for dinner, we went through their hoops made a reservation three weeks ago, they said to confirm on Wed. I called Tuesday and Wed. to confirm. Got there and they said we lost our reservation because they did on hear from us. I think what was a disappointment was not only the food but the way they handled it. There was no apology or update while we sat there for over an hour and they treated us like we were trying to pull a fast one. I would of never of put up with this in our home town San Francisco. The food was cold and not worth the hype then again I knew this could be the case the pork chop dry and cold. There are too many places that have great hospitality and food to ever recommend this place to anyone.
Mother's line too big because of the football weekend thing going on, missed it..
Casamento's for lunch, not the way I remembered. They were having a tough day out of food and not enough help (some folks did not show up for work) the oysters were ok; I think they might have been better later in the winter. The oyster loaf was good and the gumbo was ok.
We had a reservation at August gave it to a couple that really wanted to go there. We got a tip on a place that was more down home and wanted to give it a try. Happy we did!! Went to Cafe Atchafalya in Uptown, full of locals and great service. The food was YUMMY. We had a pork chop that knocked our socks off, roasted slowly with a jack Daniels and apricot sauce, started with two appt. one was shrimp crusted with pistachios, cilantro and dipping sauce of rice wine/fish sauce. The other oysters with breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, oregano.. so good we ordered double of both. Good wine selection and the price was reasonable great value. I think the locals want to keep it a secret.
Listened to some great music see other report if interested. Had a great time overall. Thanks for all of the suggestions and insight from his site.
