Rendezvous in Central Square

Thanks to Slim for helping me figure out the restaurant name yesterday...

Had last minute dinner at Rendezvous last night.
We were unable to get a reservation but were guided to arrive around 8:30 for walk-in seating. We got there shortly after 8:00pm and waited for less than 10 minutes for bar seating.

the drink selection was eclectic, I opted for the green coriander tequila drink which was sublime. It had muddled blood orange which gave it a rich red color and the coriander (read cilantro) was a nice accent. My partner got the gin drink but felt it was too strong. Needed more accent...the bartender went over the top adding way too much tonic.

We sat at the bar for dinner. The bar counter is lowered to normal table height so it was very comfortable to eat there.

We decided to order a variety of starters; the highlights for us being...the Boston Lettuce salad with cheddar and spiced pecans. It was dressed to perfection. the other starter of note was the potato gnocchi with braised winter vegetables. It was divine, with a rich, earthy sauce.

While I found our bartender capable and friendly, I think providing full dining service to the bar and filling drink orders for the whole room is too much. I found her distracted and somewhat rushed. My compliments on the tequilla drink was perceived as a request for another. My request to hold that drink shaker on ice for a short while was recieved with a cold stare. Overall a very small blip to a lovely night.

High recommendations.
