Well, previously I had two pork chops that were in my own personal pork chop pantheon:
-The pork chop with vinegar peppers from Vinny's at night. I mean seriously truly amazingly delicious. Nevermind the cave man sized portion out of which I think I got a total of 4 meals...
- A close friend also has an entry in the Hall of Fame. He buys a whole rack of smoked pork chops from Karl's Sausage house, then crisps them on his grill for about an hour under lowish heat. The rack is served whole at the table, truly amazing.
- Well at the urging of HeatherMB who also doggedly finally got me to try Vinny's, I knuckled under and had the pork chop at Eastern Standard on Friday. Honestly, was not even that hungry. So it is first house smoked, then grilled, served on a bed of creamy polenta, and topped with fresh local kernel corn. Spot on. Once again pork chop perfection. Almost everyone at the bar in our crew had a bite, and agreement was, superb.
Anyone else feel free to chime in with your own pork chop's past.
On an Eastern Standard note. One in our party had the burger, which was just fine, but not that noteworthy, and another had the Cuban Sandwich which he deemed only just passable. "Chez Henri has nothing to worry about.
The cocktails were spot on. The pours of wine more then generous.
