Does anyone out there remember the Austin Godfather's pizza and sub sandwich place on Gaudalupe, just at the north end of the drag, in the early 1970s? And I don't mean the Pizza Chain, which probably didn't exist then anyway.
Godfathers was a tiny restaurant that made a wonderful pizza on wide French bread and good subs, including a fantastic eggplant parmesan. They always sprinkled oregano on top and we sometimes added other, better, herbs.
Hindsight and nostalgia always being perfect, I would like to find a Houston place that makes a really good eggplant parmesan sub. Any recommendations (See, I really tried spelling it)?
