Red Ginger/short

Hey -- I ate at Red Ginger (Wisconsin and P) last night with my girlfriends -- I was a little late so didn't get to really peruse the menu but what I had was terrific.

an appetizer: smoked possibly jerk chicken quesadilla or tostada -- really delicious and unusual -- not at all the standard fare. slices of grilled chicken on some kind of flatbread and a spicy pepper mayonaiise or soemthing. I didn't get to eat nearly enough of it - -the chicken was very smokey and delicious. order that.

we also had some sort of ceviche -- i couldn't make out all the ingredients but it seems ed to be heavy on smoked salmon, onions and avocado. not at all traditional but very good. served with blue corn tortilla chips. another safe bet.

for dinner I orderer red mole rack of lamb, came with sauted baby sminach and garlic and lentils. the mole was terrific -- not at all traditional -- and there was a sweet black sauce on the plate that set off the lamb (perfectly cooked, really wonderful, not gamy at all, which it sometimes tastes to me). I dont know what was in it but were I recreating it I would probably start with balsamic vinegar and fig preserves.

give this place a try -- really impressive dinner and not terribly expensive. entrees all around or under $20.

had another great tasting meal at Yanyu. And then a less than impressive dinner at 4 and 20 blackbirds. Nice size pork chop but dry...however, my companion had roasted chicken and seemed to like it pretty well. all in all we both enjoyed our chili dog in Sperryville much more.
