My husband and I are travelling to Montreal Friday July 30, leaving Monday August 2.
I am looking for a few nice restaurants and have reviewed several board discussions but there are so many names my head is spinning, plus I don't really know if they are anywhere near where we will be staying.
We would be looking for at least one very nice evening out, but for the rest, I really want to dig into some of the unique restaurants and bistro's that are truly Quebecois. We are not really big red meat eaters, so chicken/duck, fish/seafood would be our preferences. The once exception would be at least one meal of real Montreal Smoked Beef, and I understand that Schwartz's is the best choice for that. But is it the only one?
So, net net, are there any really lovely restaurants for a romantic meal within reasonable walking distance of our hotel? One or two recommendations would be sufficient. After that, some good casual 'cheap eats', and a few "if you are in Montreal your really should not miss..." would be sincerely appreciated.
One more thing...I heard of a place that serves fantastic foie gras poutine, but the person could not remember the name of the restaurant. Anyone out there know it?
