Need rec from midtown restaurant

Two chowhounds from So. Cal. will be spending 5 nights in NYC over Labor Day weekend. We already have 4 of the 5 restaurants picked out:

Th: Degustation
Fri. Babbo
Sat: Aquavit
Sun: ????
Mon: Lupa

We realize that this is a bit Batali-heavy but we have friends that were able to get us the reservations so we decided to go for it. Where should we go Sunday night? We would like to find something that is not quite as much of an "event" as the others, is less expensive, and preferably within walking distance from our hotel (the Blakley on 55th between 6th and 7th). Ethnic is great with us but we are not interested in sushi, Japanese, Mexican, Thai, and Korean since we have so much of that where we live, or Italian since we already will be eating at Babbo and Lupa. Turkish or Indian sounds good but we couldn't find any in the area, but we are absolutely open to anything. So what would you suggest?

I might as well let you know that we are planning to eat at Katz' for lunch during the week and dumplings at Joe's Shanghai. We would be interested in Chinese but I usually don't think that Chinese works very well with only two people.

Thanks in advance and I'm looking forward to hearing your suggestions.
