Reactions to and comments on Village Voice's Cheap Chow Now?

I always enjoy Sietsema's annual lists and often turn to them for reference. The latest Cheap Chow list came out last week. Seems worth discussing, since he's pretty good about acknowledging Outer Boroughs destinations. Here are a few in Brooklyn and Queens (my usual range) that I'm interested to try and either hadn't heard of before or am now reminded of:

Trippee's (Crown Hts)
Hammonds (Lefferts Gardens)
Fatima (Crown Hts)
Rocco's Calimari (B'hurst)
Happy Family (Flushing)
Singh's Roti Shop (Richmond Hill)
Dushanbe (Midwood)
Rudy Pokes (Weekesville)
Carolina Creek (Weeksville)
Royal Rib House (Bed Stuy)
Karihan Ni Tata Bino (Jackson Hts)
Alsalam (Bay Ridge)
Down South Cafe (Bed Stuy)
Mabat (Midwood)

Anyone have any they especially recommend, or disagree with Sietsema's recommendation? Good/bad experiences? Better alternatives within the same sort of cuisine??
