Otherbrotherdarrell and I ate at Polonia last weekend. He had the potato pancakes as an appetizer and I had the chicken noodle soup. (Yum!)
For his entree, he had the mixed pierogies. One third Potato and Cheese, one third Saurkraut and Mushroom and one third Meat, (tasted like beef, looked like pork, Veal?). Sour cream and applesauce for dipping. Good but probably better as an app.
I had the Potato pancakes Goral style. Basically a larger version of his app with beef goulash.
Hearty and delish.
I also had a nice cold glass of draft Pilsner Urquell to round it out.
After that we stopped by the little Polish market a block down, (up?) the road. I got some killer bacon, hot Polish mustard and some Polish Acacia Honey.
Thence on to 99 Ranch Market for assorted veggies, teas, sauces, and lots and lots of gawking.
For dinner, my other friend and I ate at Thai Lily on Dairy Ashford, down the strip center from Mexico's Deli. We've been here a few times, but this time was a bit different. First, I didn't see anyone I recognized. Second, they had a free buffet of chicken wings, fried rice, tiger cry beef, and pad thai, which they invited us to sample AFTER we ordered. They said it was an early Valentine's Special. OK. It gave us something to do while we waited for our spring rolls and pad gra pau.
The place wasn't very busy, so I don't know what the problem was. They kept my tea glass full, and believe me, that's a full time job all by itself, but I finally had to go find someone to get us our check.
I really want to like this place, but we agreed afterwards that we will explore some of the other Thai options in the neighborhood before we go back there. Veng Thai is just across the street - anybody been there?
C'mon folks, spill. Whatcha got?
