quick review - boulangerie pierre and patisserie

in a strip mall on brookhurst st in garden grove, lies a new bakery which opened shop right next door to van's bakery. a little more demure in offerings and touting an authentic 'parisian' lineup of pastries - a group of us decided to swing by and grab some coffee and some eats. my kid brother was excited since he said "lots of hot chicks work there."

two iced coffees, some sugar - very good. i believe they use french roast of some type. it had a delayed effect, as i was pretty much bouncing off the walls after a few hours.

croissant - decent, albeit kind of "crunchy"
pain au chocolat - star of the show per my gurlfrend and brother
small tiramisu slice was kind of bland (per the gurlfrend).
i opted for a small brioche which was more dense than i'm used to - but had a nice buttery flavor.

i saw some eclairs for 1.00 each. priced a little higher than its neighbors - pierre is trying to be a little more "upscale" but the inside of the place is pretty plain and the offerings at this point are limited (a few croissant sandwiches - with vietnamese fillings are listed as well). maybe next time....

if anything it was worth eating there and watching my brother try and make eyes with the cashier.

funny side note - a google search brought me to prof salt's blog, where he provided the addy. thanks prof!
