I've noticed at several different Thai places I've been to that food for the table is brought out as each dish is ready, and is not brought out all at once. E.g., I'll get my dish 5 minutes before the person I'm dining with gets hers.
I've never experienced this (I don't think) except at Thai restaurants, and it's never been a problem. But as someone who is used to all the meals coming out at once, it always struck me as curious.
Reading some other posts on this message board, it seems like others have come across this as well.
Is this standard for traditional, or "authentic" Thai restaurants? I've never been to Thailand, and haven't eaten much Thai outside of Chicago, so I have no idea.
