My son and his friends go to Quarry House often and last night he took me there for a guys night out. It would be an understatement to say that this place is a dive, but in many ways that would also be overstating the facts. I'd say it has become more of a hipster bar. In the basement under Bombay Gaylord, it is loud, dark, and crowded. Monday nights are half price burger nights and the burgers are very good. Served with tater tots, a nice touch I think, and with lots of choices for toppings. We had the medium hot wings, and they were plenty hot. I wouldn't even want to try the hottest versions. Served with a very good blue cheese dressing that appeared to be house made.
The place has a huge beer list (10 pages) and an even larger list of whiskeys (12 pages). Prices are reasonable for the drinks. If you want water you go get it yourself, and if you want ambiance, go someplace else. I was easily the oldest person there, and I had to speak up to talk, but it was fun, the food was good, and the whiskey excellent. (I had a couple of shots of the Yamazaki 12 yo.) I don't think I will go there on my own as it is not geared toward my style (I'm a wine guy) but I will be glad to go with the kid again and enjoy the night out.
