I'm from Seattle and will be in Philadelphia for my first time next Mon - Fri for a boring convention by myself. Staying on 17th & Locust Street and will have no car.
I am a fiend for Chinese and SE Asian, but would also like to find some of the things that are hard to get in Seattle and I imagine to be more east-coasty - German food, good pizza, pastrami, Italian deli - any other suggestions? I suppose a cheesesteak though the thought doesn't really excite me. I would also like to bring back some food items as gifts for my mom if you can suggest anything.
So what would be your top picks out of the following restaurants, which I picked from old posts? Other suggestions?
Lee How Fook
Kingdom of Vegetarians
Shiao Lan Kung
Rangoon (9th & Arch)
Nodding Head Brewery
Pumpernickel (Arch & 17th)
Little Pete's (17th & Locust)
Ludwig's Garten (Samson & 13th)
Samson Street Oyster House
Lombardi's Pizza (18th & Walnut)
Joe's Pizza (16th & Walnut)
Reading Terminal Market - I'll look up old posts on that.
How far a walk from 17th & Locust is Chinatown? How far a walk is Reading Terminal Market? Am I crazy to consider walking in the heat anyway?
What is BYOB? Do they not serve alcohol in restaurants there?
Thanks in advance anyone who can help me!
