More Praise for Grand Sweets

Just had another terrific meal at Grand Sweets in Jackson Heights. Their haleem, as always, was just smokin'. Real good roti, made from scratch. Fish and goat looked good, the biryanis looked kinda scrungy, but might (probably do) taste better than they look.

What really sets this place apart is genuinely nice guys running and cooking. Small operation, very personal touch, much pride, really personable, not just like they're playing at running a restaurant. They always make me feel really welcome and their food has soul.

I need to repeat directions I gave a while ago...it's so hard to find wihtout them....

Walking up from Broadway on 73rd St (i.e. directly up from the subway...look for Astoria Federal Bank, that's the corner of 73rd), be on the left side. As soon as you start seeing commercial businesses, SLOW DOWN and look extreme extreme left for an alley. It's just before the first store. Walk down the alley toward the huge flashing sign. open late.

ciao
