Pork-a-rama San Ramon: European Deli

We said good-bye to Danville (link below) and inched closer to my goal of the women's shoe department at Nordstrom in Pleasanton. Our next stop was a newish delicatessen that Francesc had noticed in San Ramon next to the Three Brothers Chinese restaurant.

It's signage indicating "Low Carb Food" cracked us up. But once inside facing the wall of meat, the high protein/fat nature of the inventory became quite evident. The volume of meats is not as great as Delikateski in Concord, but certainly more than Walnut Creek's Babushka, yet the variety of sausages is quite respectable with a little bit of many, many kinds. Another case of the same size has hams and bacon. The slant here is Russian as well. We recognized the film stars of the movie we'd been watching at Babushka on the video poster.

We found out that the place opened last December. Francesc picked up a jar of the grudzya mushrooms. Or at least we think that's what it is, as the label's not romanized.

We took a little walk around the strip mall noting an Indian grocer and a few restaurants. With that, Francesc said, "Now Nordstrom." There I found the Munro walking shoes for traipsing around the Douro's patamares.
