So I was headed to my neighbor's birthday party with nothing in hand.... Remembered that on my walk back from Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous (great ice cream, BTW) I kept walking past a relatively new storefront to me -- Poco Dolce. They had what appeared to be gift tins in the windows, and the lovely smell of chocolate and toffee. So I decided to investigate for an ad-hoc gift.... and I'm so glad I did.
First the basics -- the retail store is on 3rd Street in the Dogpatch, between 20th and 22nd. They have free samples to try if you're undecided like me. But I didn't want to be too greedy, nor pack on that many calories so I only sampled a few. I think I've also seen here that they are available at Whole Foods (I don't shop there regularly).
Grey salt toffee squares -- these were my first purchase. Squares of toffee covered in bittersweet chocolate, and sprinkled with Grey sea salt. YUM!
Super chile toffee squares -- these were my second and totally loved with the nice flash of heat at the end. Total love at first bite. Also covered in bittersweet chocolate.
Popcorn and toffee -- nice crunch but not the flashes of flavor I got with the first two.
Wanted to try but didn't -- burnt caramel, double shot expresso
Great storefront and really helpful employees. Another great addition to the Dogpatch!
