Plug for GOOD EGGS

westsidegal | | Apr 22, 2014 04:47 PM

This is an unabashed, shameless plug for the food that has been delivered to my door by Good Eggs.

In particular, their produce has been beyond exceptional.

Normally, the stores on my normal rotation for produce are: Gelson’s, Bristol Farms, Whole Foods, and Sprouts.
Every single produce item that Good Eggs has delivered to me has been FAR superior than the stuff that I’ve been able to get by driving all around town. The fresh fava beans that were delivered yesterday were the most stunning, flavorful, BIG, beautiful, fava beans I’ve seen anywhere this season.
I’m blown away.
The oranges that they delivered last time, which were sourced from Burkart Organics, looked like normal oranges, but TASTED much better than any that I’ve gotten from the market.

They carry other “artisanal” foods too: cheeses, meats, etc.
I’ve also been very pleased with the goat cheeses that they brought that were sourced from Soledad Farms, (but, truly, I’ve not done the whole “drive all over town” comparative test on cheese).

Every few days, their offerings change.
(Just because they offered organic EVOO today, doesn’t mean that it will be available tomorrow. On the other hand, the berry pies that they weren’t offering yesterday, may be offered today.)

If you order over $30 worth of stuff and are willing to take delivery during one of their “free delivery” time windows, the delivery is free.

The refrigerated food was packed in insulating material and was cold when I unpacked it.
the stuff that shouldn't have been refrigerated was NOT cold (i.e. they didn't just pack my entire order and put it in a refrigerated truck. every item was treated properly.
I’m in love with this operation.
