I had two very different dinner experiences this weekend. Friday we went to La Cava, an upscale Mexican BYO in Ambler. The food was terrific- I had a grilled calamari with shrimp and avocado salad with cilantro dressing. The calamari was not chewy at all. For my entree I had the red snapper, which comes to the table as a whole fish and they filet it for you as you watch. It was topped with a garlic sauce that was quite tasty.
I was really disappointed in my meal at Plate in Ardmore on Saturday night. I had the scallops and cod special- the only thing I could taste was SALT. A LOT of salt. The peanut butter icing on the PB Chocolate Torte actually tasted like peanut butter, but there was no taste to the chocolate.
I am going to Jake's in Manayunk on Thursday- what should I order to make sure I have a great experience?
