Retired husband and 4 of his cousins are joining me on a 5 nite business trip to SF the end of October. This is a first visit to SF for our cousins, and we will be staying at B&B's near Union Square.
Last time hubbie and I were in SF (Fall 2010), hubbie enjoyed Barbacco (had Blackboard Eats coupon code) and I enjoyed Frances (showed up early to stand in line and ate at the counter). Chapeau was fine for our visit to the museums though further than we originally thought and not worth a special trip just for the restaurant. We both enjoyed our early breakfast at the Ferry building farmers market on Saturday morning.
We won't be renting a car, but, using public transportation. We are from Maryland DC suburbs, cousins are from Atlanta and Wisconsin. Two people have dietary restrictions (gluten, dairy), all are willing to try different neighborhoods and food. One cousin is from Vietnam, and all enjoy ethnic food as well as Italian etc. Our first meal should probably be near Union Square where we are staying since we will be tired from traveling. Good food is more important than "ambiance", and budget is definitely a factor. Hubbie will not want to dress up.
Can you help me come up with a "short list" of budget-moderate options for lunch or dinner? Any we need to make reservations for in advance? Thanks so much!
