New and old places for dining.

I had a very disappointing meal at Amelie on Royal St. Nothing great, standard menu, cold gumbo, slow service. The courtyard is beautiful I might add and if it is a nice day, it could be worth it. The buzz around town is that the Rib Room has now become the new Friday Galatoire's. It is booked every Friday. Good for them. Alberta's on Magazine St. is remarkably delicious with an innovative menu and super fresh seafood. A new Felix oyster bar opened up on Prytania St. but I have not been. Finally, it is worth checking out the new digs at Savvy Gourmet, Magazine near Valence. They serve an excellent daily lunch with 2 fresh soups, imaginative salads, and great sandwiches. It is fun to shop for the Williams Sonoma-like cookware and watch the cooking instructors behind the scenes preparing food to order. Excellent food and quite a happening place. Wireless friendly.
