OK, now that food muse has been kind enough to send me to La Boulangerie and Cafe Nino (two remarkably good places, I must say) I figured I would come back to the board, and ask for additional suggestions. Bayou Bagels, my other stop yesterday, was disappointing, and served nothing even vaguely passable for a decent bagel, although the whitefish salad was quite good.
So what does everyone think is the closest thing to a good New York pizza (Cafe Nino was terrific, but I am curious if others have suggestions as well), a good Italian bakery (Brocato's canollis were ok, but their biscotti left a lot to be desired), and something close to a decent bagel.
For the record, I KNOW I am not in NY, but am looking for suggestions where to go where, as foodmuse said in an earlier post, I get an itch, and feel the need to scratch it with fare resembling that of home.
