has anyone ever tried gino's pizzeria or new park pizza, both on cross bay blvd in howard beach, queens?
i rarely travel down to that part of queens but figured i ought to try them on my next trip to/from jfk airport.
i've heard good things about both (i believe from a blurb written by robert sietsema of the village voice) but am wondering if they're worth going out of the way for.
is there a certain type of slice that's especially noteworthy at these places (plain, sicilian, grandma, etc)? what about calzones, heroes, pastas, etc (if these things are even offered there)?
and if you've been to either of these places, how would you compare the pizza (in terms of taste, style, type of oven, etc.) to the more "well-known" pizza places such as di fara, totonno's, patsy's, lombardi's, grimaldi's, nick's, joe's, john's, etc.?
