Am I missing something here?
The night started out great (Mechancisburg location, although I've been to Lemoyne). Weather was great. Sitting out on the porch was nice. Things then turned south when I ordered a Negroni to start. I had eyed the Campari, vermouth, and bitters sitting atop the bar as we walked out to the patio and thought it would be a nice way to start the summertime dinner. My waitress told me she thought "we are out of Negronis" and I then told her it was a cocktail and I had seen the proper ingredients at the bar... she said she'd check. She came back later and informed me, nope, all out of Negronis...
Not a huge deal. I ordered a beer.
But then the pizza. After all, this is the Pizza Grille. I ordered the pizza margarehita. It supposedly had fresh mozz on it which appealed to me. This was unlike any pizza margarehita I had ever had before. The crust was all off (thick... not at all bubbly), the mozz looked like cheese you would see melted atop nachos, not fresh mozz, and the tomatoes were tasteless. Things all came together when I asked for some hot sauce to try and mask the horrible flavor and she brought out the "speciality house sauce."
Their speciality hot sauce was a concoction whipped up for them by Sysco (proudly displayed on the label). This summed it up. All those "quality ingredients" comprising my pizza margarehita where delivered via the same Sysco truck that backs up to 95% of our restaurants in central PA and fills them with the same crud.
Anyone know any good, truly fresh ingredient pizza places in the Capital region? I'm really disheartened when a place like Pizza Grille gets best pizza in "Best of Harrisburg" Please help. Am I alone here?
