My wife and I, both fairly experienced `cue consumers, visited the Pitt Cue Co in Soho on Saturday. It's currently very, very popular, and the first sitting was full by 12:10. In keeping with the long lines outside they get customers through their meals pretty quickly - we didn't feel pressured to leave, but things arrived very soon after our ordering them.
The quality of the food itself - ribs, pulled pork, a special of featherblade, several kinds of pickles and sides of chipotle slaw and burnt-end mash was excellent. The pulled pork was my personal favourite, and was better than anything I've had in the uk, and better than most even in Texas, but all three were more than acceptable. The pickles were great, especially the crispy shiitake, and the sides were kind of meh.
Slightly too much food for two people, two (good but not incredible) rye cocktails and service for £55, which I felt was pretty decent value for Soho. We were in and out in a little over half an hour, which is maybe faster than I'd have liked, but it feels churlish to fault a place for rapid service.
I'd consider waiting until the hype has died-down a little, but I'd highly recommend it to anyone who liked barbecue, or doesn't know whether they do.
