Pig's Foot at Pierrot

yumyum | Dec 10, 2004 02:09 PM

Made it over to Pierrot for lunch today and I'm so glad I did. Highlight of the meal was pig's foot salad to start. A lightly dressed bed of mesclun with a few tomato slices made the perfect foil for pied au cochon -- boneless pig's feet dusted with flour and pan fried. Wow. This is the gelatinous stuff that makes me weep.

For mains, I made a mistake and ordered the Hangar steak rare. I forgot that this is a cut of meat that should be more well done. It wasn't at all bad, just could have used a few minutes more cooking to break down the fiber a bit more. The shallot sauce and potatoes au gratin on the side were delightful... all creamy nutmeggy goodness on a drizzly day. Very nice wine list too.

By the time I left, the room was full and I wished I could have another glass of wine and stay. What a delightful place, and very reasonable!

Pierrot is on Cambridge Street opposite Mass General Hospital.
