Pigalle is one of my favorite restaurants in Boston, I have been several times and haven't reported yet. But, I wanted to share with you thoughts from last nights dinner...
We started out with an interesting Nantucket bay scallop and maine crab dish with sea urchine sauce, the sauce (orange)reminded me of a rich lobster bisque w/ a slightly more intense flavor, bay scallops were tender, and good. Next we had a Nicoise salad with a bundle of asparagus, egg, artichoke hearts, potato nuggets and excellent rare tuna... all placed on the plate as if not to overcome each of there individual flavors...it was fresh and delicious and had the perfect amount of dressing (a wonderful green oil?) Then we each had a pork confit potato pancake topped with seared lobster w/ a reduction of pork jus. The lobster was extremely tender and delicious, and the pancake was ozingly rich. For the main course I opted for the roulade of chicken breast stuffed with crab meat over 3 types of mushrooms (cinnamon cap, chantarelles and a type of black mushroom) with foie gras stuffed brioche... at this point I was just about at my limited but, managed to eat half of my entree which was tender and rich. My dinner companions had the cassoulet... which included braised lamb shank, bacon and duck confit and a scattering of white beans... I overheard comments such as "Like Butter", "Succulent" etc...
Overall it was another great meal at Pigalle - The service was professional informed, and unobtrusive... The combination of the warm greeting at the front of the house and the imagination and passion that goes into the menu create in my mind a world class restaurant!
