First of all, I eat at Picket Fence frequently - it's just about the best sit-down restaurant in the neighborhood. Since the NY Times review the place is always packed, and I'm happy they are doing so well! But I do wish they would change just a few things:
Popcorn vs. bread - it was cute for a while and I don't necessarily expect they would bake their own fresh bread. But I'd love to see them support a small Brooklyn bakery - and I would really like some bread to soak up the sauce from my entree. Popcorn kernels just don't cut it.
The wine list is much too limited. I love the half-price bottle of wine on Thursdays, but c'mon, a few more options please. Wine is a big money maker for most restaurants, why don't they make a bigger deal about this?
Seasoning - sometimes the chef has a bit of a heavy hand - often too much on the sweet side. Salads drenched in dressing, flavoring combinations that sound better on the menu than they taste.
But enough whining - I do love the place, and can't wait til they open up the backyard tables again.
