walked by the new restaurant at the corner of columbus and powell, which opened two days ago. Stepped in for a quick lunch, despite having been burned by 'too new' restaurants a few times; but we were hungry, and it looked appropriate for our toddler (ie. the place was empty at 1pm --it filled up later, surprisingly, maybe people were just waiting to see someone eat there).
They don't have a lunch menu (yet; they've received some feedback on the topic already), same menu through the day. We did not want a 3 course meal, just ordered two entrees:
-gnocci with gorgonzola cream sauce, which was rich in flavour, and very rich, period. Gnocci with the right texture, would have been excellent a bit lighter and fluffier. $12.
-cornish hen cooked under a brick. This was quite good, the meat still very moist all the way through, the skin nicely flavored with rosemary. Served with polenta (grilled), steamed veggie and sautee'd spinach.
Service still learning. Bus boy very attentive, waitress not there yet, but trying, so she will get it.
Due to the recent opening, some dishes were not available (osso bucco, soft polenta). All in all, it was pretty decent, especially considering it was their 2nd day.
