After finding out Isabella was booked solid, we went for Piatto Grille and we were not disappointed. While it did take us a little time to find, it is neatly tucked away in a strip mall on Ridge Pike across from the Burger King. Really nice decor, small and intimate without being overcrowded. Great menu options for restaurant week. We were started with some great breads with oil and a mild mustard dipping sauce. We all went with the $20/3 course meal, all starting with Caesar salads. The nice addition of crispy panchetta bits added to a well put together salad. Next, two of us went with eggplant bites served with house marinara (which was really tasty) and the other got the appetizer portion of the mushroom ravioli. The portion for the app was about 12 good sized ravioli and those got rave reviews, in a creamy but not heavy sauce. I got the dinner portion of the mushroom ravioli, which had at least 2 dozen on the plate and it was so good I used all the crusty bread I could find to soak up the sauce. The others got the chicken parm which was a huge serving with an equally huge side of pasta with the house marinara. Again, both plates were cleaned. For $20, these meals more than exceeded our expectations.
The dessert tray followed with several options, the house-made french caramel torte topped with sea salt was what I went with and it surely did not disappoint. Super rich caramel with a crumbly crust and the great addition of the salt added another dimension. We also had a bread pudding pie at the table and that got solid reviews as well.
I can't wait to come back here to try the full menu. In addition to great food, the service was prompt and attentive, with Chef Gavin coming out to check on us with great regularity. A great new gem in the Conshy dining scene that I encourage everyone to try!!!
