I will be heading to Vancouver for work next week and am staying the weekend for fun. I have been to Vancouver a few times in the past, but have never done a lot of culinary research before the trip. We will be staying at the Residence Inn on Hornby Street and will not have a rental car, so I would appreciate suggestions that are within walking or a short taxi distance.
My request is twofold, as I will be with my vegetarian boss during the week and my finicky bf over the weekend. For the weekday meals with my boss, we will only be available for dinner. I have eaten at Vij's and enjoyed it enough to go back, but being that I'm not a vegetarian, I don't remember if it is appropriate for non-meat eaters. I have also eaten at Glowbal and enjoyed that as well. We are government employees living on a per diem, but we both appreciate good food, so we are willing to go slightly over the per diem in order to have a memorable meal. I would say that entrees should be in the $10-$20 range.
For the weekend with the BF, I would like to make a Saturday reservation at a nicer restaurant. He is a meat and potatoes kind of guy, but always enjoys it when we branch out a little bit. Nothing too stuffy - we like a good, fun atmosphere.
I would also appreciate a Saturday lunch suggestion. If the weather is nice, we will likely head over to Stanley Park. I've read about the Fish House, Fiddlehead Joe's and GoFish, but don't know about their location in relation to where we're staying.
Lastly, I would appreciate any bar/lounge suggestions you might have for close to our hotel. We don't like anything pretentious, both appreciate a good beer and are fans of sports bars, but the TVs aren't a necessity.
Thank you for your suggestions!
