Thanks to yesterdays recs, I went to Pho 2000 today for the first time. I had the meatball pho (#19 on the menu) while my friend had the Vietnamese Fried Rice. I thought the rice was not very interesting at all, but it was just what my friend wanted so he was happy. Meanwhile, my pho was excellent. The broth was the best part, it was very tasty, it was a beef broth I guess. The meatballs were good, though their texture is a bit rubbery. My bowl of pho was supposedly a small one ($4.95) but it was quite big, though I saw the big ones on other tables and they are VERY big. It had lots of fresh cilantro and scallions and came with basil, lime and bean sprouts. On other tables I saw lots of drinks, smoothies, huge bowls of pho, other meat dishes. I really like this place. A lot. And it's quite a bargain. Has anyone ever tried the caramel pork or fish? I have had this at other Vietnamese places but never in Boston.
I will be back, probably soon. Hopefully not TOO soon cause I should eat at home sometimes too.
