Persipan - where to find?

RUNNERFEMME | | Jul 11, 2012 06:51 AM

I am looking for persipan, the poor man's (nut-free) marzipan (often a substitute for marzipan) made from apricot or peach kernals instead of almonds. Does anyone have any clue where I might locate it in the states? It's all over Germany, but I am looking for mail order and am surprised to find none on the internet.

For the curious - i need it to make little sheep heads on cupcakes for a tree-nut allergic kid.

I could make my own substitute for marzipan, but the recipe I found on line involved corn syrup, shortening and instant custard powder. Uh, no thanks.

Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
