Pepolino & Mirchi

Hi, has anyone tried Pepolino in Tribeca? I'm meeting a friend for dinner tonight and am looking for recommended dishes. I know Asimov reviewed it last year but I'm wondering if anyone has eaten there recently?

Also, a group of us had a wonderful dinner at Mirchi in the West Village the other night. We started with the Dhoklas, which were light and fluffy and gently spiced. Not quite as hot as the first time (about a week ago) we tried them but still spicy enough. The samosas were beautifully done, the shell was light and crispy and the filling of potatoes & peas were perfect. Other members of our group tried the Chicken Murgh Chat which was tasty, the chicken was tender but the sauce was a little too salty. We had another Chat which I can no longer remember the name of, but was a combination of dried vermacelli noodles, cilantro & chopped vegetables. It was also hot and but overwhelmingly so and was large enough to share among four people. The crispy spinach was a bit of a disappointment, just batter fried spinach with a tamarind sauce.

I don't remember the names of the entrees, though most of us ordered veggie and fish dishes, which were very good, though the fish dish was overly sauced. We had one British friend with us who was looking for the equivalent to a vindaloo and was not disappointed with the spiciness of his entree (I believe it was chicken). The dal that accompanied the main dishes was perfect. This restaurant does not shy away from bold & hot spices, be warned. The service was friendly and accommodating and the food generous and delicious.

Thanks!
Lisa
