[PDX] Arawan Downhill Alert and La Iguana Feliz Closed...

I've tried them a few times now to be sure and Arawan, the local Thai restaurant chain, seems to have gone severely downhill. I've only been to the Vancouver location on Mill Plain, but I heard from friends that the 82nd location has gone downhill as well.

It seemed to have happened after they opened a sushi bar inside the Thai restaurant. Another restaurant trying to be all things to all people, I suspect. It used to be one of my favorites providing arguably Americanized, but high quality dishes without Typhoon's prices. I loved their Yum Nuer. On last visit their Yum Nuer was a pile of gristly pieces of overcooked beef with some lettuce and a dressing whose flavors were totally out of balance -- too salty, too sour. Their pad thai seems to be made with ketchup now and is very pink and sweet. Very disappointing.

I've driven by La Iguana Feliz several times in the last couple weeks and haven't seen it open yet. There are still chairs and tables and cooking equipment inside, so it could still be open just not at the times I've driven by. Or maybe they're on vacation. But I suspect they're closed. Perhaps someone knows better?
