Having read the article in the NY Times this morning about Jamaican meat patties, naturally I'm wondering what are everyone's favorite spots for chowing on these little delights.
These are some of the places mentioned in the NY Times article:
Buff Patty in Fort Greene
Jamaican Pride Bakery in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens
Shaborn Juice Bar, a Guyanese bakery in Flatbush
Angel Flake Patties in Flatbush
Not sure if anyone here's ever been down to Gainesville, Flordia (home of Univ of Florida), but there's an absolutely amazing patty shop down there called 'Carribean Spice'. The owner is Jamaican and he makes the best patties I've had anywhere. Instead of stuffing flaky patties inside of coco bread, he actually cooks the meat patties inside delicious, sweet coco bread (in lieu of the yellow crust). These coco bread oustide of these treats are soft and delicious and sorta biscuit/croissant-esque, and the meat it juicy and delicious. Just thinking about them makes my mouth water.
