Pastores, a new Mexican place in the Mission, at the corner of Mission and Cortland across from Spicy Bite, is now open, though they don't yet have their liquor license...I walked by the other day on my way to elsewhere, and got a menu to check out: alas, it is much more of yet another taco place (standard taqueria menu, order at the counter, large communal tables, brightly lit) than the sit-down restaurant of my dreams (The cute awning proclaiming it a 'Mexican Bistro' raised my expectations perhaps a bit high)...
however, there is hope, as they do offer both huevos rancheros and chilaquiles at breakfast (though red flag: the chilaquiles come with eggs), and there is a note encouraging patrons to 'ask about our daily special' (good albondigas one night a week two blocks from home would be a dream come true)....
Unfortunately, I will be out of town a fair amount the rest of this month and it may be a few weeks before I can try it, so if anyone makes it there first, please post!
