park place on mosholu

hi. just wanted to post about my new year's eve meal with my husband at park place restaurant, on mosholu avenue (i think it's still the bronx, on the border of yonkers).

it was our first time there—nice atmosphere, sort of like an old house converted to a restaurant, with a nice old oak bar upon entry. we were seated about 15 minutes after our reservation (8pm). our waitress was fine, although a bit abrupt in my opinion. also, the pacing of the courses felt a little rushed—we were in and out in under an hour and a half.

the menu was a bit limited, and i'm not sure if that's because it was the holiday, or that's how it is all the time (i had called ahead to see if we were limited to a new year's eve special menu—we wouldn't have gone if so—and was told we could order off the regular menu). about 6 choices each for apps and entrees and about 8 dessert choices.

hubby and i shared excellent crab cakes (2 nice-sized ones) with a roasted corn salsa as an appetizer. he had a really moist, tasty roast salmon while i had stuffed flounder (stuffed with crab) as our entrees. mine was a decent but a little dry both inside and out. we might've indulged in the angus sirloin or filet mignon, but with the whole mad cow thing right now, we stuck to fish.

he never passes up tiramisu, and my husband was impressed: he gave it "4 ladyfingers" on his rating scale (out of 5—an excellent rating)!

with a glass of wine and two coffees (and all entrees come with a mixed green salad), bill came to $90 including tax and tip.

overall, a nice meal. i wouldn't rush back so soon, but if you're looking for something in the area that's a little bit nicer (entrees in the $18-25 range), this would be a good choice, given that there isn't much around locally...
