Panahar review- Atlanta

Based on "Alwayshungry"'s earlier post, we tried Panahar on Sunday. It was terrific, thanks for the tip!

We had the $8.95 buffet lunch which included mulligatawny soup, nann bread, four vegetarian veggie dishes, tandoori chicken, and two curries/stews - chicken and beef. The meal also included salad and dessert. Condiments were raita and a DELICIOUS homemade yogurt, green apple, chili sauce. The owner?/manager told us to use it on everything and we did. Besides the curries, the best part of the meal were the fantastic warm nann breads that he kept bringing to our table. We found ourselves stuffed and saying "Oh, I'll just have one more..."

At so many Indian restaurants a lot of the dishes taste the same. Here, they were all different and had a lot of subtle layers of spicing. Actually, before someone gets offended, let me add that this is a Bangladeshi resaturant.

The owner/manager asked us how we heard about the place and we mentioned chowhound. He said we were the second people to mention the site and he seemed very interested. Even prior to our mentioning the site, he was a veritable fount of info on the ingreditents and we heard him explaining the history of Pakistan and Bangladesh to other customers.

They allow you to bring beer or wine and have no corkage fee. When we were leaving, he gave us each a coupon for a free lunch buffet and another coupon for 25% off dinner. We will definitely be back!

Oh, did I mention the spiced iced tea? Wonderful...
