Yes I know it is americanized thai food, but I like it. I don't recommend the pad thai at Chan Dara. Chicken in it tasted like it was cooked yesterday and re-heated. It had that day-old chicken taste if you know what I mean. They also used some type of smoked tofu, which I like a lot less than plain old tofu. Also, enormous branch-like pieces of scallion. Please chop it up a little. Do you really think I'm going to stick a whole 5 inch piece of scallion in my mouth?
Chan Darette, sister restaurant in the Marina, uses similar ingredients but it somehow turns out a little better.
I'm not a big fan of over-sweet pad thai, as they serve at Saladang in Pasadena, although somewhat sweet is just fine. As long as they have hot sauce on the side... Thanks all.
