March is Stout and Porter season at Redbones and every Friday evening starting around 6pm, they have oysters shucked by one of the guys from Union Oyster house. This is the third year that I've known them to do this. On Friday, I had a dozen plump bluepoints washed down with a tasty Ipswich Oatmeal stout. They also had Otter Creek Stovepipe porter and Cambridge Porter as an alternative to the stout and another variety of oyster from Maryland that I didn't try. I also tried them with Jever - a hoppy German pilsner but they went better with the earthy and roasted flavors of the stout. The best part is that the oysters are only $1.25 each and they usually get some west coast oysters shipped in by the makers of Rogue beer some time during the month.
You know where I'll be every Friday night this month.
