Let me start by saying that I love tasting menus and have ben to quite a few in many cities around the U. S. so I was bubbling over when I took my hubby to Osetra in SoNo last weekend and saw three versions of a tasting menu.
I asked the waiter about it and he was happy to send Dave Nevins out (chef and owner - always a good sign!) who explained that the mother of all tasting menus called "No Mercy" would consist of a personalized menu of at least 20 taste "bites" (Osetra serves tapas style plates) with plenty of surprises off the menu, too. Hubby's palate is not as adventuresome as mine and he asked whether he could nix some foods - "No problem" was the answer.
I understand that Dave had an all you could handle menu up in Boston at Neptune Oyster -- I uncovered a bunch of threads about it on CH.
The bar manager also said that the restaurant could help with bar pairings - half glasses etc.
I am psyched - we are getting together with some chowhounders from the Worcester MA area next week and will be heading to Osetra -- we'll let you know.

I'd be curious to find out about other FC tasting menus. I don't often eat in FC - usually opting for the city but sure would love some feedback about this menu or any others in the vicinity.
