Midwest chowhound looking for good places to eat for a couple of nights in Orlando, with a couple of criteria in mind:
I'll be staying at the Embassy Suites Airport, on T G Lee Blvd. I will have a car and I'm willing to drive for good food, but closer to the hotel is better. I would prefer to avoid getting stuck in traffic, if that's an issue in any part of town on a weeknight this time of year.
I may be dining alone, and I may have colleague(s) with me, but in either case the ability to read (ie, bright enough light) and discuss business (no excessive noise, tables reasonably far apart) will be much appreciated.
I have no cuisine requirements or restrictions - it can be mainstream steak and seafood or some kind of unusual ethnic or specialty place, as long as it features excellent food. It would be nice if the place has either a good reasonably priced wine list (great selection by the glass a plus) OR a good selection of micro or import beers (but either beer or wine is OK - doesn't have to be strong in both). Moderate to upscale, but not extravagant, in price. Non-chain (or at least not a national chain) a plus.
So, local hounds, any recommendations?
